Job Description

• We are looking for an experienced Machine Shop Shift In-Charge to manage CNC machining operations, shift production planning, manpower allocation, quality control, and continuous improvement activities. The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience in CNC Turning, VMC machining, process control, and shop floor supervision with exposure to NPD, tooling optimization, and lean manufacturing practices.

Key Responsibilities

Shift Operations & Production Management

• Execute daily production plans as per shift schedule and priority.
• Ensure maximum machine utilization and achievement of production targets.
• Monitor hourly production, machine downtime, rejection levels, and cycle time adherence.
• Coordinate closely with planning, quality, and maintenance departments.

Manpower & Shift Handling

• Allocate operators and setters as per skill matrix and production requirements.
• Ensure smooth shift handover and continuity of operations.
• Monitor attendance, discipline, productivity, and operator efficiency.
• Provide on-the-job training and technical guidance to shop floor staff.

Machine Setup & Process Control

• Ensure correct job setup, tooling, offsets, fixtures, and CNC program selection.
• Obtain first-off approval in coordination with the Quality team.
• Maintain stable machining processes by controlling parameters and offsets.
• Support troubleshooting of machining, tooling, and dimensional issues.

Quality Assurance & Inspection

• Ensure production output meets drawing specifications, GD&T, tolerance, and surface finish requirements.
• Monitor SPC charts, Cp/Cpk, control plans, and quality documentation.
• Ensure traceability, inspection records, and compliance with quality standards.

Tooling & Consumables Management

• Monitor cutting tool life, insert consumption, and tooling performance.
• Coordinate with stores and tool room for timely availability and replacement.
• Optimize tooling and cutting parameters to improve productivity and tool life.

Breakdown & Maintenance Coordination

• Identify machine abnormalities and potential failures at an early stage.
• Coordinate with maintenance for breakdown resolution and preventive maintenance.
• Ensure minimal machine downtime and quick restoration of operations.

Safety, 5S & Compliance

• Enforce shop floor safety practices, PPE usage, and SOP adherence.
• Maintain 5S, TPM, lean manufacturing, and workplace discipline.
• Ensure compliance with internal and statutory safety standards.

Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain shift-wise production reports, downtime logs, and rejection data.
• Ensure proper job cards, inspection reports, checklists, and production records.
• Share daily shift performance updates with management.

Continuous Improvement

• Drive Kaizen initiatives, cycle time reduction, yield improvement, and cost-saving projects.
• Support continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives.
