We are looking for a proactive and experienced Safety Officer to ensure compliance with all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards within the plant. The ideal candidate should be well-versed with industrial safety, risk assessment, and process safety management while driving a strong safety culture among plant personnel.
The Safety Officer will monitor the implementation of safety systems, emergency response plans, audits, and hazard analysis (HAZOP, JSA) to ensure a safe and compliant work environment in line with Factory Act, ISO 45001, and GPCB requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Understand and implement SHE TF (Safety, Health & Environment Task Force) action plans.
Coordinate with various departments to ensure timely implementation of safety action items.
Conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and HAZOP studies; compile and track closure of findings.
Perform gap analysis in safety practices and prepare a corrective action plan in coordination with other departments or units.
Integrate Process Safety Management (PSM) principles into plant operations and procedures.
Organize and conduct safety training programs, mock drills, and toolbox talks for plant employees and contractors.
Ensure compliance with statutory safety requirements under Factories Act, Environmental Acts, and other applicable regulations.
Review and implement Permit to Work (PTW) systems and ensure safety compliance during maintenance or project activities.
Oversee emergency response procedures, firefighting systems, and conduct periodic inspection and testing of safety equipment.
Support plant teams in maintaining compliance with IMS (Integrated Management System) including ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
Validate implemented safety measures and document evidence for audit readiness.
Prepare the plant for internal and external EHS audits.
Required Skills
Knowledge of Safety Management Systems and Industrial Safety Practices.
Understanding of ETP, RO, and MEE operations and environmental safety.
Expertise in risk assessment, job safety analysis (JSA), and HAZOP studies.
Hands-on experience in emergency response planning, incident investigation, and safety audits.
Strong coordination and communication skills to work across departments.
Problem-solving mindset with focus on minimizing downtime and hazards.
Education & Qualification
B.Sc./B.Tech/BE in Safety, Environment, or Chemical Engineering.
ADIS or PDIS (Advanced/Post Diploma in Industrial Safety) is mandatory.
Additional certifications in ISO 45001, Fire Safety, or Process Safety are preferred.
