The Senior Project Engineer – HVAC is responsible for leading the complete planning, design, execution, installation, testing, and commissioning of HVAC systems across industrial, commercial, and residential projects. The role requires deep technical knowledge, strong project management capability, and the ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders to ensure timely and quality project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Planning & Coordination
Review HVAC designs, tender drawings, BOQs, and technical specifications for accuracy and feasibility.
Coordinate with architects, structural teams, electrical and plumbing engineers to ensure seamless integration of HVAC systems.
Prepare HVAC work schedules, manpower planning, and material requirement forecasts aligned with the master project plan.
2. Site Execution
Supervise HVAC installation activities including chillers, AHUs, FCUs, ducting, VRF/VRV systems, exhaust and ventilation units, and insulation work.
Monitor subcontractor performance to ensure adherence to approved shop drawings, quality standards, and method statements.
Conduct regular site inspections, quality checks, and ensure proper installation at every stage.
3. Technical Support & Issue Resolution
Resolve technical issues related to duct routing, space constraints, equipment placement, and service coordination.
Liaise with consultants, OEMs, and design engineers for RFIs and technical clarifications.
Review and approve shop drawings, as-built drawings, and equipment datasheets.
4. Testing, Commissioning & Handover
Lead testing and commissioning activities such as airflow balancing, leak testing, and functional testing.
Ensure system performance matches design parameters, energy efficiency standards, and client expectations.
Prepare and submit all commissioning reports, certificates, and final handover documentation.
5. Quality & Safety Compliance
Ensure all HVAC activities comply with ASHRAE, ISHRAE, NBC, and relevant industry standards.
Enforce quality procedures and adherence to approved technical specifications.
Monitor all site safety practices, especially during major equipment installations and high-risk activities.
6. Material & Vendor Management
Coordinate with procurement and vendors for timely delivery of equipment and materials.
Verify subcontractor bills, vendor invoices, and certify them based on actual work progress.
7. Reporting & Documentation
Maintain daily and weekly progress reports, inspection logs, and quality checklists.
Prepare MIS reports and update stakeholders on project progress, risks, and resource requirements.
Document variation orders, project changes, and maintain complete HVAC project records.
Key Skills & Competencies
Strong technical knowledge of HVAC systems, equipment, and installation practices.
Experience with VRF/VRV systems, ducting, chillers, AHUs, FCUs, ventilation systems, and insulation works.
Ability to read and interpret HVAC drawings, BOQs, and technical specifications.
Excellent coordination, leadership, and communication skills.
Strong problem-solving ability and experience in resolving site-level technical issues.
Understanding of ASHRAE/ISHRAE/NBC standards and safety compliance.
