Job Brief

  • The Structural Engineer is responsible for the design, analysis, and review of structural systems for buildings, infrastructure, and various civil engineering projects. The role ensures structural stability, safety, and cost-effectiveness while coordinating closely with architectural, MEP, and civil teams. This position requires strong technical expertise, analytical skills, and experience working with a structural consultancy or engineering firm.

Key Responsibilities

1. Structural Design & Analysis

  • Perform analysis and design of RCC, steel, and composite structures.
  • Develop and review structural design calculations, models, and engineering drawings.
  • Ensure all designs comply with applicable codes and standards (IS, ACI, BS, Eurocode).
  • Optimize design solutions for safety, efficiency, cost, and constructability.
  • Conduct load calculations, foundation design, and connection detailing.

2. Drawings & Documentation

  • Prepare and review structural drawings, GFC documents, and shop drawings.
  • Coordinate with drafting teams to ensure accuracy of detailing and layout.
  • Maintain complete design documentation, revision logs, and approval records.

3. Coordination & Technical Interface

  • Collaborate with architectural, civil, and MEP teams for seamless design integration.
  • Participate in design coordination meetings to resolve interdisciplinary issues.
  • Provide technical guidance to project teams and site engineers during execution.
  • Review and approve vendor designs, subcontractor submissions, and technical proposals.

4. Site Support & Quality Assurance

  • Conduct site visits to verify structural works align with approved designs.
  • Provide support for RFIs, design clarifications, and modification requirements.
  • Assist in resolving structural deviations, non-conformities, and technical disputes.

5. Reporting & Compliance

  • Prepare design progress reports, technical summaries, and compliance statements.
  • Ensure structural design follows HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) standards.
  • Support preparation of Design Basis Reports (DBR), method statements, and related documentation.

6. Software Skills

  • Design Tools: STAAD.Pro, ETABS, SAFE, SAP2000, Tekla Structural Designer
  • Drafting Tools: AutoCAD, Revit (Structural), BIM Tools (Preferred)

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of structural engineering principles and material behavior.
  • In-depth knowledge of IS codes (IS 456, IS 800, IS 875, IS 1893, etc.).
  • Ability to interpret and coordinate architectural and MEP drawings.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • High attention to detail with a focus on structural quality and safety.
  • Strong communication, coordination, and documentation abilities.

  • Accuracy and reliability of structural calculations and drawings.
  • Timely completion of design deliverables and approvals.
  • Reduction in site-level structural issues and rework.
  • Effective coordination with project teams, consultants, and contractors.
